Blackpool Airport is excited to announce our collaboration with Skyverse in the development of Skytower, an innovative, cloud-based electronic flight progress strip system.

Currently, our air traffic controllers use paper-based flight progress strips to manage airfield and airspace activities. These strips provide vital information for each aircraft or vehicle, with coloured holders used to signify activity types such as departures, arrivals, local flights, or vehicle movements.

Skytower will modernise this process by replacing the traditional paper system with a computerised, cloud-based solution. One of our Air Traffic Control Officers, James Chant, is working closely with Skyverse to design, configure, and test the system to suit Blackpool Airport’s specific operations.

We’re eager to see how this advanced system enhances both efficiency and safety at our airport. Stay tuned for updates as the project progresses!
